TiVo Troubleshooting Guide: Powering Up Problems
DirecTV is having a problem that causes many DirecTV receivers (both
those integrated with TiVo PVRs and also standalone receivers) to hang
during reboot and Guided Setup. Especially due to the power problems
on the East Coast at the moment, forcing hundreds of thousands of customers
to boot their units, this problem has been showing up quite often.
Most commonly, the integrated units (DirecTV with TiVo, or DirecTiVo) will
hang acquiring the satellite at 26% or 28%.
Just to be clear, this isn't a problem with your unit - it's a DirecTV problem.
Here's the workaround:
1. Power the unit down.
2. Remove both of your SAT inputs (or your one SAT input if you only have
one attached).
3. Power the unit back up. Work your way all the way the setup by
choosing "I'll fix the problem later" when need be. At one
step, it may pause for 15 to 20 minutes while still trying to access
the satellite and show 0%. This is normal - wait it out.
4. When the unit if fully done with it's configuration (you can see TiVo
Central on TiVos) then plug the SAT input(s) back in.
5. Your receiver should now be able to tune your regular channels.
We've posted information about this problem on the TiVo Community forums
