The Harmony 880 is ideal for TiVo customers controlling several components in their A/V system. The function keys featured on this remote are detailed on this page. Note that the keys' functions are described as they were intended, but each button can be uniquely programmed according to your own preferences. So think of this page as a suggestion and a starting point. Generally, when you first program your remote, this is what the keys will do.

Button	Function(s)
Power	Turns off all the components in your A/V system that are on.
Activities	Loads your preprogrammed list of options into the view screen; eg. Watch DVD, Watch TiVo, Listen to CD, etc.
Help	Guides you through troubleshooting with easy, "yes" or "no" questions.
Soft Key (8)	Eight of these "soft" keys appear on either side of the view screen, allowing you access to whatever command or macro you've set for that position.
Mute	Silences your active audio source.
Previous	Jumps back to the most recently viewed channel.
Volume	Modulates output for your active audio source.
Channel	Changes channels up and down.
Down/Up	For TiVo users, these function as page up/down. Other applications may vary.
Soft Back	Scroll ahead through on-screen menus.
Soft Forward	Scroll back through on-screen menus.
Glow	Illuminates the Harmony 880's view screen.
Device	Scroll through a list of pre-programmed devices, then use the soft keys to navigate its menus.
Media	Pick TV shows, movies or music from the display.
Selector/OK	Navigate through on screen menus with the outer ring and then and make your selection with the center "OK" button. (Similar to the TiVo remote; "OK" replaces TiVo's "Select" button.)
Menu	Activates in your video monitor the Menu for your active component; eg. the televisions set-up menu will appear.
Exit	Exits the current menu of your active component.
Guide	Activates in your video monitor the "Guide Menu" of the active component, if available; eg. the DirecTV Guide will appear on your television.
Info	Displays in your video monitor information about the active program, if available.
Stop	Stops playback on your active device.
Replay	Jump back by chapter, song, tic mark, in 8-second increments, or however you have the active component programmed.
Skip	Jump forward by chapter, song, tic mark, in 30-second increments, or however you have the active component programmed.
Play	Plays programming on your active component.
Record	Activates recording function on your active recording component.
Rewind	Rewinds programming on your active component.
Forward	Fast forwards programming on your active component.
Pause	Freezes playback on your active component.
Number Pad	Numeric entry; a raised mark on the "5" button helps you find your place without looking at the remote.
Clear	Erase you last entry or delete an on-screen selection; similar to the same button on a TiVo remote.
Enter	Enter key functions same as on TiVo remote; also used to "send" your numeric selection on some components.
