PC usage:
You DO NOT need a computer in any way for this TiVo upgrade kit - this drive is completely formatted for your TiVo here at Weaknees.com - no further modification in a PC is necessary.
This TiVo Upgrade Kit is easy to install. Everything is included with the kit, except a Phillips screwdriver (not needed for all kits). The instructions are available online for you to preview.
This Upgrade has NO effect on your TiVo Lifetime/Monthly Service Your TiVo service is tied to your TiVo serial number, which is located in a chip on your motherboard. Changing TiVo drives does not in any way affect your TiVo service.
This Upgrade has NO effect on your TiVo HMO (Home Media Option) Your HMO is also tied to your TiVo serial number. Changing TiVo drives does not in any way affect your TiVo HMO - it will be enabled on the new drive after one connection.
Note: this upgrade is so large that the TiVo will not report the capacity correctly. Current versions of the TiVo OS don't properly process the number of hours correctly, but this is only a cosmetic issue, and the TiVo will record up to the full stated capacity of this kit.
